Behavior plan
How Its Set Up
My classroom is all about teamwork and family. I believe that it is important that we help students understand that their actions have consequences, good and bad, and that in almost every situation, our actions effect others. With this in mind, my classroom will be set up into "Tribes." I will have four tribes set up within my classroom. The Tribes will stay the same for a whole quarter. Within the Tribe, your child will be responsible for a job, these jobs include but are not limited to: Team Captain, Trash Collector, Preparer, Encourager, and Bulletin Board. Each job will come with its own responsibilities and the students are in charge of making those things happen. Each time a job is completed successfully, your student will receive a point for their team. It is similar to jobs that the students will get "paid" for. The jobs will change throughout the quarter, so each student will have the opportunity to do each job. Each Tribe will come up with their own name and will create a bulletin board to keep track of how many points they have as a group. They will be earning different things in the classroom with the number of points they earn.
What You Should Look For
The students will be bring home weekly check-ins that will allow you to see how they are doing as a group. You can sign these check-ins and return them on Monday for an extra point. You can keep up with your child's specific progress on ClassDojo. See information below.
ClassDojo
I will send home a packet of information going into more details about ClassDojo. You will be able to sign on and be in direct communication with me, as well as see how your student is doing on an individual basis. ClassDojo works by giving and taking points depending on actions and choices of students. Good choices will gain students points, and not so great choices will cause the points to be taken. The great part about ClassDojo is that it shows what each point was taken or given for and it allows me to make comments when necessary.
Home Communication
I will call home for three reasons:
1. Your child earned 5 or more points in ONE day. This is a cause for celebration and you will be contacted.
2. Your child ended the day in the negatives. This is not such a fantastic phone call, but I will attempt to be as clear and understanding as possible. The point of these phone calls is not to "bash" your child, I think of it more as a brainstorming session, where we have the opportunity to work closely to reach your child.
3. An emergency, sickness, or clarification
As I stated on the home page, I work an open classroom. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year.
Let me know if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.
